MSc in Accounting – Dublin Institute of Technology
This programme is offered on a full time basis (one year) commencing September. Accounting at DIT is the right path for you.
Accounting at DIT is designed for honours (2.1 or better) graduates in accounting. It is aimed at those wishing to further their studies in accounting and who may wish to prepare for a career as a professional accountant.
Those commencing the programme with exemption from CAP 1 CAI will, on successfully completing the programme and meeting other requirements, be eligible for exemption from Cap 2 CAI.
It will also equip its graduates to successfully complete the examinations of the other major accounting bodies (ACCA, CIMA CPA (I)) operating in Ireland.
The programme will also develop the skills and competencies required to undertake independent research in the areas of accounting and related areas.
An honours bachelor degree (2.1 or higher) with accounting constituting a major part. It is expected that all candidates will have full CAP1 exemptions from Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
Most graduates will initially embark on qualifying as a professional accountant. Following this opportunities exist in both professional offices and elsewhere.
Graduates will be eligible for the award of MSc in Accounting of the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Timetable / Hours
This programme is delivered over two extended semesters rather than over the 12 months.
“Teaching hours are 21 hours per week in the semester 1 and 19 hours per week in semester 2”.
